Angela Chitkara

PR Track Director, BIC at CCNY

Angela Chitkara, CUNY Mellon Fellow and PR Track Director in the Branding and Integrated Communications program (BIC) at The City College of New York (CCNY) in Harlem, lives life purposefully through engaging with communities in and around the world. Professor Chitkara’s current research involves the role of the agency CEO in Diversity and Inclusion and meeting business objectives through Social Purpose. Chitkara is credited for disrupting the public relations industry months before the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement began. She is a recipient of the 2018 Sabre Innovation Excellence Award for her research titled #PRDiversity: The Struggle is Real.

Outside of academia, her consulting work involves developing media strategies for mini and multinational corporations, start-ups, and non-profits through public-private partnerships globally. Prior to public relations, Angela served in various capacities, rising through the ranks of local, financial and international television news journalism with CNN local, Reuters and CNBC, based in the US, Singapore and India, with stints in London and South Africa.

Ms. Chitkara is based in New York City and currently serves on the boards of the PRSA Educators Academy, the PRSA-NY chapter and The Asian American Writer’s Workshop (AAWW).

Angela holds a Masters in International Affairs, Columbia University; a Masters in International Journalism, City University, London; and a BA in Communications, Seton Hall University. She is based in New York City.
