Dionne Miller received a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from The Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). She also holds postgraduate diplomas in Management Studies (University of the West Indies) and Technical Education (University of Technology, Jamaica). She is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Chairperson of the Natural Sciences Department at LaGuardia Community College, CUNY. A strong advocate for undergraduate science research, she involves her students in her research projects, and as chairperson, she is leading the Natural Sciences Department in the process of incorporating undergraduate research in all their foundational science courses. Her professional interests focus on research into the optical properties of nanomaterials, and her current projects include a collaborative effort to study the effect of gold nanoparticles on antioxidant uptake and utilization in cells. Dr. Miller is also interested in hybrid course development and in helping students become self-regulated learners and has presented and published in this area as well.
