FAQ: The DIRC21 Charitable Organization Pool

+ My organization is based outside the USA.

We accept nominations for organizations from anywhere in the world

+ My organization is not officially a nonprofit.

As long as your organization is mission-driven and focused on D&I, the legal status of entity type does not matter.

+ My organization does not have an online presence.

Because we rely on your online presence to determine the authenticity and alignment, and because we promote organizations on our website, we can only accept nominations from organizations that have an online presence.

+ My organization has an annual budget over 200,000USD.

We tend to favor smaller organizations. If you had an unusually high budget last year but normally have a smaller budget, please use the “Additional Information” section to explain your situation.

We only support organizations whose mission and activities are clearly focused on some aspect of D&I.

+ My organization does not use research as part of its work.

It’s OK if you do not use research, but your application should explain how you would/might use research to strengthen your work.

+ I am the only person working for my organization.

As long as you are active and your organization has an online presence, you are still welcome to apply.

+ I am planning to launch an organization soon but it’s not yet active.

Your organization must have been launched prior to your application submission to be eligible.

+ My organization was just launched a few months ago, we do not have a 2020 budget.

In order to evaluate your organization it is most useful if you have been operating long enough to have established a track record. However, we will consider new organizations. Please use the Additional Information section to provide details.

+ All (or part) of my organization’s staff is unpaid. Do I still count them as staff in the application?

We understand that, especially early in the life of an organization, some or most of the personnel may not draw a salary. Please include in the head count the number of full-time and part-time employees who would normally be paid for their work, or whom you expect will be paid once you have sufficient budget.

+ I just learned about this opportunity but it’s past the deadline. Can I still submit my information?

Because of our scheduling constraints we are unable to accept any applications past the deadline, but we invite you to plan for a submission at DIRC22.

+ I have a question that is not answered in this FAQ.

If you have any questions not answered here, please send an email to dirc21@aleriaresearch.org. Please note that we may not be able to answer all inquiries.
