Dr. Fay Cobb Payton is a Program Director for Computer and Network Systems in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Directorate at the National Science Foundation. At the NSF, she works with INCLUDES, ADVANCE, Excellence-In-Research, Smart & Connected Health and education & workforce programs, including Broadening Participation in Computing Alliances. She is on assignment from North Carolina State University, where she is a Professor of Information Technology/Analytics and named University Faculty Scholar. Her research examines data quality, bias in tech, healthcare IT, human computer interaction, tech innovation and the future of work. She has authored over 100 scholarly manuscripts and conference proceedings. She holds a Ph.D. in information and decision systems from Case Western Reserve University with a specialty in health care innovation. Prior to her appointment at North Carolina State University, she worked at EY, IBM and Time Inc.
