Joanna Hernandez

Joanna Hernandez is director of Diversity Initiatives at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, where she formerly had been Career Services director and adjunct lecturer. Previously, she’s been a multiplatform editor at The Washington Post; director of the Feature Production Center for The New York Times Regional Media Group; and copy editor at The (Bergen County) Record, The (Newark) Star-Ledger, the San Francisco Examiner and Newsday. Joanna’s a former president of Unity: Journalists of Color, former National Association of Hispanic Journalists board member and belongs to several journalism organizations, including the Online News Association. She has a master’s degree in Public Administration from Baruch College, a bachelor’s in Journalism from New York University. And she is a certified producer with the Manhattan Neighborhood Network.
