Nikki Evans
Director of the Office of
Workforce Partnerships at CUNY TechWorks
Nakisha "Nikki" Evans is currently the Director of the Office of Workforce Partnerships at the City University of New York (CUNY). As Director, Ms. Evans oversees the implementation of several tech initiatives including the #CUNYCodes Portfolio Development Program, CUNY Tech Meetup, and the CUNY Tech Career Readiness Initiative. With her team’s current work focused on student preparation for recruitment and hiring in the tech sector, thinking through diversity and inclusion strategies with employer partners is key to ensuring equitable access to opportunities for all CUNY students-especially those historically underrepresented.
Prior to joining CUNY, Ms. Evans lived and worked in Berlin, Germany for nearly 5 years- first, as a Robert Bosch Foundation Fellow studying German labor market management strategies including Germany’s federal apprenticeship system, and then as the Program Administrator for the Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program (SMSCP) housed at the Siemens Technik Akademie. In this position, she worked with colleges and partners in the US, Latin America, Asia, and Africa to integrate German approaches to technical education and training. Before moving to Germany, Ms. Evans oversaw a multi-site workforce development program in New York City, which was awarded the New York City Education and Training Coalition’s Opportunity Award for Encouraging Career Advancement. Originally from Florida, Ms. Evans received her MA in Government and Politics from St. John’s University and her BA degree in African and Afro-American Studies from Brandeis University.
