Grey Batie
PhD Candidate, UC Berkeley, Department of Nuclear Engineering
Grey Batie (pronouns: he/they) is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley in Nuclear Engineering. Their current research focuses on developing unique methods to design and operate reprocessing facilities and other nuclear material bulk handling facilities, to enable the detection of inadvertent or deliberate hold up of fissionable material.
Grey earned a Bachelor’s degree in both Nuclear Engineering and in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Masters degree in Medical Physics from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Additionally, they have completed internships at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, iThemba Laboratory for Accelerator-Based Sciences, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Grey’s interests include recruitment, retention, and advocacy for minority students in the sciences.
